Traditional Japanese  Daikokuten (God) Mask

-----Description-----

Daikokuten (大黒天) is a Japanese deity of fortune and wealth. He is worshipped by farmers, merchants, and those wishing to get married.

He is one of the seven lucky gods, a jolly man with lucky fat earlobes wearing a soft squashed hat and a uchidenokozuchi (magic mallet). Every time the mallet is hit, it produces a shower of oval-shaped Ryo (old currency); alternately, when tapped three times, a wish is granted.

Daikokuten is usually pictured with a uchidenokozuchi, bales of rice, and a rat. Being so wealthy, Daikokuten is not bothered by the rat's presence. The rats also represent the amount of riches that can be squandered by misfortune.
